Microbes as Biofertilizers, a Potential Approach for Sustainable Crop Production

نویسندگان

چکیده

Continuous decline of earth’s natural resources and increased use hazardous chemical fertilizers pose a great concern for the future agriculture. Biofertilizers are promising alternative to gaining importance attaining sustainable play key role in increasing crop yield maintaining long-term soil fertility, which is essential meeting global food demand. Microbes can interact with plants enhance their immunity, growth, development. Nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, zinc, silica nutrients required proper growth crops, but these naturally present insolubilized or complex forms. Certain microorganisms render them soluble make available plants. The potential microbes, mode action, along effect on discussed this review. Biofertilizers, being cost effective, non-toxic, eco-friendly, serve as good substitute expensive harmful fertilizers. knowledge gained from review help us understand microbes agriculture ways formulate biofertilizers production.

Bacterial Biofertilizers for Sustainable Crop Production: a Review

The most important constraint limiting crop yield in developing nations worldwide, and especially among resource-poor farmers, is soil infertility. Therefore, maintaining soil quality can reduce the problems of land degradation, decreasing soil fertility and rapidly declining production levels that occur in large parts of the world needing the basic principles of good farming practice. Minerals...

Potential of indigenous microbes as helping agents for

The aim of this study was to assess the effects of heavy metal tolerant soil microbes inoculation on growth and metal uptake of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum), couch grass (Triticum repens) and alfalfa (Medicago sativa) in a soil spiked (and subsequently aged) with increasing concentrations of Pb. A soil sample (soil 1) was spiked with increasing (0 to 1500 mg/kg) concentrations of Pb and in...

Utilization of Rice Hull as a New Substrate for Turf Grass Seed Germination in Sod Production as a Sustainable Approach

Sod culture is one of the important methods in establishing and repairing of turf grass, especially in sport fields. Nowadays, a mixture of sand and peat are commonly used in sod production in Iran. Because peat media is expensive, it seems necessary to find an alternative medium. Rice hull, tea waste and leaf compost as economical organic material that are available in huge loads in north of I...

Cisgenics - A Sustainable Approach for Crop Improvement

The implication of molecular biology in crop improvement is now more than three decades old. Not surprisingly, technology has moved on, and there are a number of new techniques that may or may not come under the genetically modified (GM) banner and, therefore, GM regulations. In cisgenic technology, cisgenes from crossable plants are used and it is a single procedure of gene introduction whereb...
